New Scholarship Alert! Ronald V. Dellums Memorial SMART Scholarship - Highschool Seniors and Rising Freshman
Hello, ex-STEAMers!
We are excited to share an update on the newest addition to the DOD Smart Scholarship program.
The Ronald V. Dellums Memorial SMART Scholarship is a new program established in 2023 to honor the life and career of Representative Ronald V. Dellums. The scholarship seeks to increase underrepresented students' participation in the Department of Defense's STEM workforce. The scholarship covers tuition, stipends of $30,000 per year, summer internships, mentorship from seasoned professionals, book and health allowances, and employment opportunities with the Department of Defense. Eligibility requirements include being a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older, a rising freshman pursuing a bachelor's degree in one of the 24 SMART STEM disciplines, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, obtaining and maintaining a security clearance, and committing to service after graduation. The scholarship honors Dellums' legacy of change and progress, as he was the first African American to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the 103rd Congress's first black chairman of the committee. The scholarship continues his legacy by championing the participation of underrepresented students in the STEM workforce.
High school seniors are encouraged to apply.
